Wired reported yesterday that the FBI deliberately misled and lied about anti-terror investigations in order to bolster the argument for expanded powers under the Patriot Act. I really, really hope there is another side to the story that the FBI will soon divulge because otherwise this is exactly the type of unprincipled behavior that was predicted as a result of granting extraordinary powers to law enforcement agencies.

Our forefathers seem to have been correct in limiting the government so strictly. They cannot be trusted, it seems.
