Obama Speaks the Truth and the Idiots Proclaim it False

Senator Obama’s recent comments about poor people being bitter and clinging to gun, religion, antipathy, etc. is dead on. Anyone who’s got a lick of sense knows this is true. Rich folks don’t give a damn about any of that stuff because they can safely ignore it. They don’t like gun restrictions? They move or buy the politicians to change the law or buy the judges that enforce the sentences. Religion? Which rich guy do you know that is religious? FYI, you can’t be religious and rich in this country because you’d be flagrantly violating the principles of religion, namely taking care of the poor. Antipathy? The rich care about things because they know they can change them. One check and that politician’s in your pocket or your kid goes to a good school.
What people don’t want to do is face the facts. Poor people are bitter, angry, jaded, pissed off, and ready to say fuck everything. Take away the factory job that three generations held, make the mom work at a fucking grocery store making enough to pay the babysitter and not much more, make the father work two jobs for assholes who won’t even give him health insurance coverage because he’s a part time worker, and make the kids go to shitty schools where the teachers are paid less than either of their parents and need to work second jobs too. Add in a couple of newspaper headlines about Exxon Mobil making $14 billion (yes, that’s a mother fucking billion!) in a quarter…that’s a recipe for bitterness.
When this election season started I wasn’t sure Obama was the right person for the job. Now I’m sure. I’ll be sending him money starting now. Because I’m not poor I think I can buy the election; if I were poor I’d just read this over my beer, say ‘whatever’ and go back to talking with my buddies about deer hunting season and how I’m going to pay for a bicycle for my kids birthday since I just lost one of my jobs.
