I’m not sure how exactly I should be offended by this article on CNN, link, about some rich assholes who are suffering because they lost their jobs after screwing over thousands of people with subprime mortgage deals that should have been illegal.

Let’s start with this. These people worked in an industry that was rife with illegal or at least shady practices, such as repackaging mortgages into other securities that obscured the actual risk level of the resulting security.

They deliberately worked to provide mortgages to unqualified people despite long established evidence that these people weren’t able to pay these types of bills.

They now say they’re stuggling to get by on $1800 a month when they need $10,000 just to pay the bills…holy shit! Did they actually just suggest they “need” $10k a month to live on? What type of moron makes that statement after contributing to the greatest housing debacle in our nations history? $10k per month is the mortgage payment on a $1.5 million dollar home! And what about this terrific line, “And they’ve made cutbacks: trading in Kent’s Corvette for a Suburban and getting rid of the gardener, for example.” How about getting rid of the car completely? How about buying a fuel efficient vehicle? argh…

Honestly, the only thing that comes to mind at this point if “fuck you Mr. and Mrs. Cope.” I hope those idiots end up working as gardeners on someone’s estate.
